It is difficult to define the Englishman, because it is not easy to communicate with them. Maybe it is obturated in geography, or it has been ruling the region in the world at the height of power and splendour. The Englishman is generally conceited and frosty, and they wouldn't like to chat, However, they are delighted at helping others. When you looking around with a map in the street of London, it must be someone coming and asking you "May I help you?" After the help, however, they get back to the frosty attitude.

Someone call it their proper humor for fun. Every Englishman seem to say "Don't be too close to me"

It also seem to like that between Englishmen. In community park, the people everyday walking know each other, but they just have a salutation to each other. It is hardly seen that two people siting for chat. On each park bench in a row, there is often one people. Even if there are two people, one in a side and the other one in the other side, leaving the middle for nothing. They stay there for hours, but say nothing to each other.

Englishman ever drew a picture for themselves. In the picture, two Englishmen who drifted to an unmanned island, didn't rap to each other till old, because nobody made introduction for them.

Englishman is urbane, but this type of graces and manners is also a barrier themselves which make you at a respectful distance. Although one coin has two sides, the consequentiality of Englishman also make them self-respecting. They handle affairs gravely. It don't need to give a lot of care to mix in with them. Don't bargain for use of giving a present. Personal friendship and other factor would not be against their principle. Once Englishman make friends with other, they are loyal to the friendship.



对英国人下定义挺难的，因为与他们沟通是在不易。也许是地理条件的封闭，也许是英国有着称霸世界的鼎盛时期。英国人普遍自傲、冷漠、不愿闲聊，但乐于助人。当你手拿地图，在伦敦大街上徘徊张望的时候，肯定会有人上来问你“May I help you?”但是给你提供帮助后马上又恢复冷漠的态度。

有人戏称这是英国人特有的幽默。每个英国人的身上似乎散发着这样的信息：“请不要和我套近乎”

英国人之间似乎也是如此。在社区公园里，每天散步的人彼此都认识，但仅限于打个招呼，很少见到两个人坐到一块聊天的。公园的一溜长椅上，往往每个椅子上就坐一个人。即便是两个人，也是各坐一头，中间空着。他们一呆几小时，彼此间却不通一言。

英国人曾为自己画了一张漫画，画面上是两个漂流到荒岛上的英国人，因为没人替他们介绍，到老也互不理会。

英国人处事彬彬有礼，但这种风度和礼貌就是一种屏障，使你敬而远之。凡是具有两重性，英国人的自傲也使他们自重，办事认真，与他们相处不必费神套交情，不要指望送礼能对解决问题有多大帮助，英国人不会因为私交或其他因素而改变自己原有的做事态度。英国人一旦与人交上朋友，则十分忠于友谊。
